In Jeju, it’s also common to wrap it in seaweed with a touch of ssamjang on top, creating a whole new taste to enjoy.

Mulhoe (a cold, spicy soup-like dish with raw fish) is another must-try summer delicacy in Jeju, topped with either damselfish or swordtip squid sashimi. With a broth-like sauce made from soybean paste, red pepper paste, and vinegar, this tangy, spicy, and savory dish is a great way to beat the summer heat. Damselfish mulhoe does include bones, so if that’s a turnoff for you, then swordtip squid mulhoe is the way to go. The best place to enjoy seasonal swordtip squid is Seobudu Myeongpum Hoejip geori (a famous sashimi street), though takeaway is available from any local market to be eaten wherever you please. In Jeju's old downtown stands the island’s oldest building. This is the Jejumok-Gwana, once the administrative center of the island during the Joseon Dynasty.
