Heukdwaeji (Black Pork)
Heukdwaeji (Black Pork), one of Jeju's representative foods, embodies the Island's long tradition and food culture. The highest quality black pork, managed and certified on Jeju Island, boasts meat quality and flavor that are completely different from regular pork. There are a variety of Heukdwaeji restaurants, including restaurants specializing in special cuts such as moksal (pork neck) and ogyeopsal (pork belly), as well as special cuts such as galbi (ribs) and bbolsal (pork chin). Jeju’s traditional Heukdwaeji Gui (Grilled Black Pork) is dipped in ‘Mel-jeot’ a Jeju-style brined & fermented anchovy sauce and is also grilled together with Gosari (Ferns), seafood like Abalone, Shrimps, etc. and enjoyed together.
