[Creator ‘go.rani’ @_go.rani] Hello, I’m Lee Aran, a haenyeo and content creator who shares stories connecting people and the ocean under the handle go.rani. I capture and upload my everyday life in the seas around Jeju Island, revealing some of Jeju’s best hidden spots to have fun in the water while also promoting marine conservation :) |

I don’t think anyone knows this place except Jeju locals. When I first visited, I was amazed by the meeting between the two essences of Jeju Island, Hallasan Mountain and the ocean. Since only locals come here, it’s not too crowded, making it perfect for a relaxing swim. The water is a little deeper and the terrain is a bit steeper compared to other ports, so this place should be thought of as an advanced-level spot better suited for those who are comfortable in the water, rather than families with young kids.

The water gets deeper quickly just a bit beyond the outer edge of the inlet, making it a perfect spot to practice some freediving! While the water is great for swimming, the stunning basalt rocks also make it a great place for just setting up a camping chair and soaking in the view. A hidden gem like this… is truly precious♥

This spot is connected to the famous population of cacti in Wollyeong-ri, so it’s a great place to come on a stroll. With its basalt rock formations and crystal-clear waters, it gives off that unmistakable Jeju vibe that will have you feeling, “Ah, I’m really in Jeju!” On days when the waves aren’t too high, a lot of people come here to float on inner tubes. Watching them really makes you feel like you’re in an exotic resort.

The underwater scenery here is beautiful, with a marine environment that’s perfect for snorkeling. The depth increases gradually the further you go from the shore, so as long as you’re careful to include some safety equipment, like a tube or life jacket, it’s safe for even families with children to enjoy. There’s also a public restroom conveniently located nearby.

This spot shatters the idea that the only water in Jeju worth swimming in is the ocean! It’s like a secret playground for locals that only opens in summer.
Most streams in Jeju only fill up when it rains, but this spot flows year-round. However, the water may become murky during periods of low rainfall, so timing is important. About three days after heavy rain is when the waters are at their clearest and most abundant.

Note that this spot is a little bit less accessible than most beaches. It takes a 10–15 minute walk along a trail to reach the waterfall. The water temperature stays at an icy 17°C even in the middle of summer, so once you go in, you’ll feel a refreshing chill waking up your whole body! It’s a perfect retreat when the heat has you feeling worn down.
▶ Address: 137, Donnaeko-ro, Seogwipo-si, Jeju

This place is truly a sacred spot for snorkeling and just having fun in the water! When the waters are at their bluest, they truly rival any tropical paradise found abroad. It’s perfect for snapping shots to your heart’s content against the backdrop of its sparkling clear waters, in the signature style of photographer Yosigo. The water levels here really vary with the tides, receding a lot at low tide, so get your timing right to visit at high tide and have more fun in the deeper water.

As it’s an inlet, the water has some sudden drop offs in depth, so be sure to bring along an inner tube or life jacket if you’re not confident in the water. While there are paid showers available at nearby resorts or rental shops, the lines can get pretty long during the busy season, so I recommend bringing some water along in a bottle to use for a quick rinse :)
