Baksugijeong, located in Daepyeong-ri, is a location full of stunning natural scenery, similar to the columnar joints in Jungmun or the coastal cliffs along Aewol Coastal Road. The name combines “Baksu,” meaning spring water, and “Gijeong,” meaning cliff, signifying a cliff where a spring of clean water flows. It is also the starting point for Route 9 of the Jeju Olle Trail, ascending up along Baksugijeong. Climbing the pine-covered mountain path offers a panoramic view of the quiet Daepyeong Port, where a lighthouse stands. Farmland is also visible on the plains above Baksugijeong.

To take in the full grandeur of the cliffs of Baksugijeong, they are better viewed from near Daepyeong Port rather than standing on the cliffs themselves; the pebble beach below the port is a particularly good spot to observe the magnificent vista of Baksugijeong stretching out like a folding screen. The cliffs rise approximately 100 meters straight up. A number of nearby cafés offer views of both the ocean and Baksugijeong, allowing visitors to relax and enjoy the scenery at their leisure.

Baksugijeong is famous for its beautiful sunsets, creating a picture of overwhelming majesty as the sun slowly sets beyond the steep cliffs and paints the sky a fiery orange. We recommend visiting Baksugijeong at sunset to enjoy this magnificent view, a masterpiece crafted by nature.
