별점(별점없음)
If you think Jeju Island is only about its black pork, pork noodle soup, or hotpot abalone seafood stew, then you’d be wrong. There are many unique foods that are attracting a lot of attention these days. They’re remarkable for their new, interesting ideas and ingredients. Although Jeju black pork is a common enough menu item, this southwest Jeju restaurant has something you will probably not have experienced while here: a Jeju black pork shank on the bone which has been marinated in dark beer. The dish is baked in a restaurant-grade oven so that the skin is extra crispy and the meat is moist and full of flavor. Of course there’s pizza on the menu, but this one-of-a-kind pork shank is something to make a point of trying.

This restaurant’s name is not easily forgotten. It is an Izakaya-style Japanese restaurant located in the center of Jejudo. It has great chicken karaage, as is the cream jjamppong. These dishes are all portioned individually, so you can mix and match with friends or even eat on your own.

Marado Island may be best known for its black bean sauce (jjajang) noodle restaurants, but that’s not the only game in town. This restaurant has developed its own take on Jeju cuisine, and offers a spicy seaweed & seafood noodle soup that is full of mussels, squid and abalone, caught by Marado haenyeo women divers. Not only are the ingredients fresh and healthy, the meal is without a doubt a delicious experience in itself.

Pizza is popular pretty much everywhere these days. But this restaurant prides itself on steering clear of the typical round shape and mainstream toppings. Nestled in the southwest Jeju countryside, this eatery offers meter-long pizza with a fresh Jeju cheese option and a choice of four eye-opening toppings: kimchi, sweet potato, potato and bulgogi.

Located near the Kim Young-gap Gallery in southeast Jeju, this restaurant brings Jeju ingredients to a classic Western dish: tomato pasta. Add fresh octopus and abalone to the mix, and you’ve got something very special. The chef uses butter to cook the seafood, making the entire pasta meal a creamy delight. The grilled shrimp cream pasta with herb cream sauce sounds like it would be too rich for most, but the balance is just right.
