Wonang Falls is located about a 20-minute walk from the entrance to Donnaeko Recreation Area, developed into a popular tourist site under the Jeju Comprehensive Development Plan in June 1994. The combination of the deep valley, cascading waterfalls, and surrounding dense evergreen forests creates a majestic site that truly encapsulates the wonder of nature. The name “Wonang Falls” originates from a local legend about a pair of mandarin ducks (wonang) that once lived here.

Located in the middle of the Donnaeko Valley, visitors flock to the 5-meter-high Wonang Falls every Baekjung Day (the 15th day of the 7th lunar month) to stand underneath the cold falls as a form of traditional Jeju water therapy, though to relieve pain. Aside from this tradition, it’s also a beautiful place to cool off in the chilly water and enjoy the summer scenery.
Wonang Falls is a popular spot to enjoy the clean, ice-cold waters in the scorching summer heat. Swimming is allowed between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., typically from July to August, though the schedule may vary from year to year.
As the water depth around Wonang Falls exceeds 3 meters in places, children are recommended to swim in nearby Donnaeko Valley instead. Despite the depth, diving is prohibited here, and swimming in the rain is not allowed due to safety concerns.
