Jeju Stone Park is both a museum and an ecological park, showcasing the important and systematic role that stone plays in the culture of Jeju, the island of stones. The park is vast enough to contain examples of nearly all the different types of stone statue found on Jeju, themed around the creation myth of Seolmundae Halmang and the Five Hundred Generals from Jeju folklore, and serves as an ideal way to experience the serene atmosphere characteristic of Jeju’s mid-mountain region.

The park is divided up into three separate viewing courses. Past the “Path of Legends” and the Forest Trail lies the Stone Museum. After touring the museum, check out the outdoor exhibits such as stone statues and Dolhareubang, followed by Course 1, the “Garden of Legends,” which features the Gallery of Five Hundred Generals and the “Mother’s Room,” also known as the “Garden of Myths.” Course 2 is the “Outdoor Stone Culture Exhibition,” showcasing the different functionalities associated with Jeju’s stone culture through a collection of prehistoric to modern stone artifacts displayed within traditional thatched exhibition huts. Course 3 recreates traditional Jeju homes into a “Jeju Traditional Thatched Village,” including saegeorijip, dugeorijip, and horse mills, offering a glimpse into the historical lifestyle of the island.

The Seolmundae Halmang Exhibition Hall opened in June 2025, breathing vivid life into the culture and spirit of Jeju Island. It documents stories related to Jeju’s folklore, history, and mythology. The exhibition hall spans three floors in total, two underground and one aboveground, and includes four permanent exhibition rooms. Operating hours are identical to Jeju Stone Park: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and closed on Mondays. The hall is also home to a café (B2), a lounge and restaurant (B1), a museum shop, a nursing room, and a first-aid station.

A journey through the exhibition spaces should start in B2 with the ‘Prologue,’ themed around ‘Halmang’s Olle Trail’: this entrance space symbolically introduces the myths, history, and folklore of Jeju Island. Exhibition Hall 1 (Folklore) showcases the lives of Jeju natives and how they intertwine with the land and the stones of the island, and the unique culture surrounding stone field farming practices. Exhibition Hall 2 (History) tells the story of Jeju’s stone culture and introduces the courageous journeys undertaken by the people of Jeju. Exhibition Hall 3 (Mythology) presents the oral tradition of Jeju mythology in its original form. On B1, Exhibition Hall 4 (Seolmundae Halmang Hall) revisits the legend of Seolmundae Halmang and the spirituality associated with it.
