VISIT JEJU

It’s time to hit the beaches. Jeju’s beaches are ready to welcome guests. Whether it’s a family picnic, surfing, swimming, or dozing off to the sea, people enjoy the seas of Jeju in their own way. The beaches in Jeju tend to be rather crowded, but if you have a choice, it’s better not to get lost in the crowd, right? 

Konan Beach is located in the eastern part of Jeju, in Haengwon-ri, Gujwa-eup, very close to the extremely popular Woljeong-ri Beach. It’s not a well-known beach, mostly known by locals and those in the know, but in the recent years it has become somewhat famous as a snorkeling destination.

Once you arrive at your destination, you will often find a long line of cars parked along the street. There is a small parking lot next to the street, but because it is so small, you will often have to park your car along the street. As Konan Beach has become quite famous, it can be difficult to find a parking spot during high season.

The wind turbines surrounding the beach create a rather unique scenery. They are often seen in pictures taken by the visitors to the beach.

If you time your visit right, the beach will be quite shallow, so children can enjoy the sea quite safely. Especially at low tide, you can go quite far out into the sea, and the shallow sea makes it quite popular with family guests. The waves here are quite gentle, so it is also great for those who cannot swim as well. Konan Beach’s fame as a snorkeling spot comes from its remarkably clear water, so you can see a great variety of fish in the sea.

Note that there are no showers or toilets at Konan Beach. There is a public restroom about 300m away from the beach, so you will have to walk a bit to use the restroom. Some rental shops or pensions nearby offer shower facilities for rent. Of course, you will have to pay for the facilities. Often visitors to the beach bring bottled water to rinse off the salt before moving to a proper shower facility.

Even if you don’t go into the sea, the view is simply stunning. The endless horizon blows away any worries you might have. Even if it’s just a drive by the sea, Konan Beach is a striking place. The color of the sea is just too beautiful. Konan Beach is also a great sunset spot. If you have a camera, make sure you bring it to the beach.

There are many spots near the Konan Beach. There is the Haenyeo Museum and many other beaches to visit. This beautiful beach offers a great spot for travelers in eastern Jeju to appreciate the beauty of the island.
