A place where you can take in everything at once – Olle Trail, cacti, the sea, and wind turbines

Wollyeong Port was originally built during the Jeju Uprising, when the senior elder of the village ordered the young adults of the village to build the port with the hope that they would not flee to the mountains.

The port is still used by many fishing boats.

The breakwater and the coastal rocks at Wollyeong Port are popular spots for fishing lovers.

Above all, Wollyeong Port is a great spot to take in the beauty of Jeju’s seas, and it’s much less crowded than the nearby Hyeopjae Beach or Geumneung Beach.

One way to enjoy the sea here is to take a walk along the breakwater and watch the fishing boats prepare their nets before heading out.

Wollyeong-ri is the only place in Korea with a natural cactus colony, home to prickly pear cacti, which have been designated as a Natural Monument.

Prickly pear fruit is known to be good for skincare and osteoporosis. In this village, instead of stone fences, they use prickly pear cacti as natural barriers to block the wind and keep out animals and snakes.

Walking trails through the cactus fields offer a rare view of cacti in Korea, and in the summer, yellow flowers give the village a unique atmosphere.

When you get on the Olle Trail and take in the cacti, the sea, and the wind turbines in the distance, you will realize that Jeju’s coastline has many different sides.

This has made Wollyeong Port a popular photo spot for many people.
