There is an old, solemn storage building in a somewhat remote place of the Jongdal-ri village, which is home to a tasteful select shop, Dalriscent. After opening a heavy, shabby door, visitors find themselves in a space full of the nostalgic vibe of an old storage and props displayed here and there. Although the collection seems rather small, each item is attractive and worthy of special attention.

Dalriscent’s collection is like no other, and visitors move restlessly throughout the shop to find hidden gems. Keep an eye for the green tea latte with decorative, chic packaging, as well as the collection of dishes that the owner has sourced from all over the world. The most popular items are the magnets that present memories from various travel destinations around the world.  

Dalriscent’s signature charm is the scent that fills the air. The fragrance from the incense sticks help relax the mind. The warm sunshine through the big lattice window and the view of the Udo Island and Jimibong create a harmonic scene. This is why the store’s name, which “Dalri” from Jongdal-ri and “scent,” feels like a perfect match. As the owner says, the incense sticks from Thailand give off a relaxing fragrance on a whole other LEVEL. It’s highly recommended for those looking for a fragrance that represents an Autumn mood. The Aewol coastal trail overlooking the white tide, the view of the nighttime ocean in Woljeong-ri, the carrot field in Gujwa full of orange-colored carrots... All this relaxing,  soothing Jeju scenery is engraved on soaps sold at the “Paelrong Paelrong Bitnaneun” prop shop in Woljeong-ri. “Paelrong paelrong” means “twinkle twinkle” in the Jeju dialect. As the name says, Paelrong Paelrong Bitnaneun offers various kinds of handmade, shiny soaps matured at low temperature

that just look like sweet sponge cake pieces. All these soaps are artworks that depict the tranquil scenery of Jeju.  Particularly popular is the Hallasan Mountain soap that shows Jeju’s blue sky and white clouds.

These soaps have so much more to offer than just their pretty looks. Matured at low temperature, these soaps take 4 long weeks to dry, and are made with much love and care using natural ingredients such as green bamboo powder, menthol, charcoal powder, and paprika powder. That’s why they’re naturally safe for people suffering from skin diseases such as atopy! At the basin installed in the corner of the shop, visitors can try various soap samples and choose their favorite.
Other souvenirs such as candles inspired by the Jeju ocean, air fresheners, and crochets are also worth checking out. In March, Paelrong Paelrong Bitnaneun also opened a branch in Aewol, which offers the same handmade soap and props.

Located in the Seogwang-ri Village in Seogwipo’s mountainous area, there’s a little prop shop in a remodeled traditional Jeju stone house. The shop owner, who loves to travel, brought her style sensibilities and Jeju’s vibe in a little stone house among the tangerine fields. This prop shop full of unique taste opens travelers’ wallets with its inherent charm. Opening the door, you’re greeting by a mobile made with shells hanging on top, followed by the sight of a substantial collection of captivating items from all over the world. Check out pieces made of rattan from Chiang Mai, various cartoon characters made in figures such as Snoopy and Lego, elegant earrings, and vintage cups, and immerse yourself in the world of these unique, original knickknacks.  

The highlight of the shop is the Rubber Duck Room, which you can access through a separate door on the side. Behind the curtain, visitors find a pink bathtub filled with yellow rubber ducks with the phrase “I love Jeju” on them. It was inspired by a rubber duck specialty shop that the owner found on a trip. This room is the signature Instagrammable spot of Gyulbat Store, particularly for rubber duck lovers! Also, there are many other variations of rubber ducks such as Batman, Snow White, and the Statue of Liberty.

The tangerine fields surrounding the store add to its magic with their seasonal colors, from the fragrant tangerine blooms of Spring to the landscape covered with green unripe tangerines in the Summer and the rich tangerine harvest in the winter. The hospitality of the owner, who is always eager to chat with customers, is another part of the Gyulbat Store’s charm  that draws customers to this place.
