Marado Island is South Korea’s southernmost region and a very popular locale for visitors. Marado also has a reputation as an excellent place to eat black bean noodles, or jajangmyeon mixed with fresh seafood, in particular with locally sourced sea algae, called tot (톳).

The Original Marado Jajangmyeon was the first Jajangmyeon restaurant in Marado. The restaurant has appeared on many TV programs including “Infinite Challenge,” which has made it a popular spot for many tourists from across Korea.

This relatively new establishment opened two years ago, though it was first a guest house from 2003, so the proprietor is not a newcomer to Marado. The ingredients they use include mussels, shrimp, and red sea cucumber.

The owner of this restaurant has established its fame by serving up the freshest of ingredients. It is located right next to Korea’s southernmost Buddhist temple of Giwonjeongsa.

This is the southernmost noodle restaurant in Korea. It is also the first restaurant you’ll see if you take the path from the port that heads towards Marado Lighthouse. Its representative seafood jjajang includes tot, octopus, and conch. The restaurant is located close to the sea, so you can enjoy your meal and the view together.
