    Jeju Bunsik

    A popular bunsik spot for tourists, Jeju Bunsik offers the traditional bunsik foods, such as ramen and donkatsu (fried pork cutlets), with a twist. Their Jeju Seafood Ramen (제주해산물라면) offers the traditional ramen with a hefty addition of seafood, and their Handmade Black Pork Donkatsu (수제흑돈까스정식) is made with pork from Jeju’s famous black pigs.

    Sarang Bunsik

    Sarang Bunsik means “Love Bunsik”, and the name is well justified. This bunsik food stall at the Dongmun Market is well-loved not just by tourists, but is a favorite of the locals, as well. When a restaurant says they are only open until supplies run out, you know you’re onto something good!
    Sarang Bunsik is most well-known for their tteokbokki, and people wait in lines to try some. Once you are seated, you must place your own order on their ordering pad. Just jot down your table number and your order, and you’re set to go. It’s good to note that if you are paying by credit card, they require you to tell them before you order. When you order their tteokbokki, you will also get fried dumplings, odeng and an egg with your order. If you want to try their “Sarang Special (사랑식)”, you will get an added row of gimbap, and if you order their “Rabokki Special (라볶이)”, you will get addition ramen noodles with your spicy rice cakes.
    They also accept phone orders and to-go orders. For to-go orders, take a number from the ticket number machine, make your order when it’s your turn, and return in 30 minutes to pick it up. Easy!

    Gojib Dolureok (고집돌우럭)

    This popular seafood restaurant is well-known for their spectacular spotbelly rockfish lunch special. The the lunch special, you get braised spotbelly rockfish with fried tile fish. All the seafood here is caught by local Jeju fishermen, so you are getting some of the best seafood Jeju has to offer!
    The lunch special must be ordered with a minimum of 2 orders (2 people), and the cost is 16,000won per person. If in a group of 3 or more, the cost comes down to 15,000won her person.
    If lunch isn’t what you’re looking for, Gojib Dolureok has other seafood dishes that are just as tasty. Some of their most popular dishes include the Abolone served in Earthen Pot, and the fried mackerel.

    Ora Ogeori Jeongsik (오라오거리 정식)

    “Jeongsik” is the Korean term for the Korean style of table d’hote. You pay a fixed price for whatever is on the menu that day. Here, at Ora Ogeori, you will be served a home-style meal with rice, soup and a variety of Korean sidedishes.
    You must order for at least 2 people, and the meal comes at 8,000won per person. Because of their early operating hours, this restaurant is popular not just for their fantastic food, but for the convenience. If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, Ora Ogeori is the place to go!

    Jeju Momil Naenggal-jib (제주모밀냉갈집)

    It is a little known fact that Jeju is Korea’s largest buckwheat supplier, supplying over 40 percent of Korea’s national supply. Jeju land is fertile for buckwheat, and locals have been incorporating it into their diet and traditional dishes for a very long time.
    Jeju Momil Naenggal-jib is famous for their buckwheat noodles, which are pulled to order. Only upon receiving an order do they take the buckwheat dough and pull it into noodles. You can be rest assured that your noodles will be fresh, every time. Their prices remain very competitive for the quality you get, as most of their dishes are all under 10,000won.

    If you are a fan of spicy foods, then this is the place for you! Famous for their extremely spicy jjambbong noodles, they have a cult following of fans of hot and spicy jjambbong. There are different types of jjambbong you can try here, including the cream jjambbong and the seafood jjambbong.

    Dodubong & Dodu Port

    Dodubong is a small oreum, or volcanic mountain, connected to the Dodu port. You can begin your hike from the Dodu Port. As a part of the Jeju Olleh Trail No. 17, the hike to the top of the Dodubong is beautiful and scenic. It is a short hike, only 900 meters, so it only takes about 20 minutes to complete. At the top of the oreum, you will have a beautiful view of much of Jeju City, the airport, and, of course, the bright blue ocean. The coastal road that is adjacent to Dodubong is considered to be one of the most scenic drives on the island, so if you are looking to go on a pleasant, scenic drive, it is highly recommended.

    Sarabong & Sanji Lighthouse

    Located to the east of Jeju Port, Sarabong is an oreum or small volcanic mountain, that separates Jeju City from the sea. Halfway up the Sarabong Peak rests the Sanji Lighthouse, which overlooks the Jeju Port. The lighthouse grounds are open for visitation from 9am to 6pm.
    When you reach the top of Sarabong, you will get a fantastic view of the ocean to the north, and Hallasan Mountain to the south. This is a very popular spot to view the two most popular natural environments that Jeju has to offer: the ocean and the mountain.

    Mysterious Road aka Goblin Road

    In 1984, a honeymooning couple were shocked to see an idle car rolling on its own on a road that went uphill. And so the mystery began. Since then, thousands have flocked to this mysterious road that seemingly defied gravity. Mysterious Road, or Goblin Road, as it is sometimes called, is a 100 meter long stretch of road that seemingly slopes upward. Once you reach the marker that signals the start of the road, you can put your car into neutral and watch your car roll along on a road that looks like it’s going up. In reality, the slope is an optical illusion, and the road actually has a downward slope of 3 degrees. It’s still a lot of fun to try, and it’s become one of the most popular destinations on a Jeju vacation!

    Halla Arboretum

    The Halla Arboretum was created in order to study and preserve the natural environment of Jeju. First opening its doors in December of 1993, it has since become one of the most sought-after tourist destinations of Jeju Island. At the arboretum, you will be able to view over 1,000 kinds of native trees and over 300 different types of plants.

    Jeju Museum of Art

    The Jeju Museum of Art holds various exhibitions by different artists, many times highlighting artists who are native to Jeju, or have some sort of connection to the island. It also features a beautiful reflecting pool and outdoor sculptures, all nestled within a small forest. For a very affordable price, you can experience Jeju’s fine arts.

    Jeju Traditional 5-day Market

    Jeju’s Traditional 5-day Markets are only open about every 5 days, on days that have dates ending in specific numbers. Every district on the island has their own local 5-day market, where they sell a variety of local goods. The largest and most well-known market is located in Jeju city and is named the “Jeju Traditional 5-day Market”. Along with Pyoseon Market (address: Pyoseon-ri, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo), they are open on days ending in 2 or 7. The second largest market is located in Seogwipo, and along with the Hallim Market (address: Daerim-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju), they are open on days that end in 4 or 9. On those days, you will be a part of a large mass of people purchasing fresh local produce, freshly caught seafood, fermented products, ceramics, clothes and more, at one of their vendors and stalls. If you get hungry while shopping or looking around, no worries. There are several restaurants and food vendors you can choose from that serve local dishes, such as boiled corn, sweet friend bean cake, noodle dishes, and more.

    Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market

    Unlike the Traditional 5-day markets, Jeju Dongmun Market is open every day. Although hours vary by store, many stores open as early as 7am. You will be able to find a large variety of fresh produce and seafood, as well as meat products, snacks, and more. There are about 300 vendors that operate at Dongmun Market, and they all offer something unique to Korea and Jeju Island!

    Jeju Seomun Traditional Market

    The Seomun Market first opened its doors in 1954, and proved to be a very popular market, due to large government buildings, schools, and a bus terminal that was nearby. However, in the name of modernization, in the 1980s, all these buildings were abandoned and moved to a new location, which severely affected the business at Seomun Market. Then, to add more to the injury, a new underground shopping mall and a mega-supermarket were built nearby. Suffering from the loss of business, the remaining business owners rallied together and were able to receive subsidies from the government to keep the traditional market active and open. It was renovated and reconstructed and newly opened its doors on September 26, 2013. It has since then become one of the 3 most popular traditional markets in Jeju City, along with the 5-Day Market and Dongmun Market. You will find at Jeju Seomun Market, all the fresh produce, seafood, and traditional goods you have come to expect from a Jeju traditional market. The Seomun Market is best known for its numerous butcher shops that provide some of the the freshest meat you will find on the island. While they are most known for Jeju’s famous black pig pork, you can also find a variety of other meat portions.
