    Enjoy a walk through the Bijarim Forest, located at Bijasup-gil 55, Gujwa-eup, Jeju City. Designated as Natural Monument no. 374, the forest has about 2,800 nutmeg trees, each aged between 500 and 800 years old. It is the largest nutmeg tree forest in the world. The “ancestor tree of the bija trees” is located in the center of the forest. It is an 800 year old tree, dated to be the oldest tree on the island. The nutmeg trees emit phytoncide, which is said to strengthen the immune system and aid natural healing. The forest is open all year round, from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Parking and free wheelchair rentals are available.     Jeju’s serene green spaceJeju Jeolmul Recreational Forest (제주절물자연휴양림)

    Jeju Jeolmul Recreational Forest is located northeast of Halla Mountain, at Myeongnim-ro 584, Jeju City and includes Jeolmul Oreum, which is famous for being home to a Japanese Cedar Forest. There is also a promenade, a pond, grass lawns, and an observatory. The hours of operation are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., all year round, but Jeolmul Oreum and Forest Road of Longevity are closed to visitors on Mondays. Parking is available, along with free wheelchair rentals and wheelchair accessible restrooms. There are also a series of ramps available in Samna Forest.     Experience Jeju’s spectacular sunrisesSeongsan Ilchulbong Peak (성산일출봉)

    Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is located at Ilchul-ro 284-12, Seongsan-eup, Seogwipo, on the eastern end of Jeju Island, and is a popular location for visitors to view the sunrise. There is a huge crater at the top of the peak, which is surrounded by 99 sharp rocks, making it look like a royal crown. The entire hike takes approximately 50 minutes. The park opens daily, from one hour before sunrise until sunset, but is closed during inclement weather. Free parking is available to all visitors.     Malaysian and Jeju Cuisine share similarities in that both cultures have a wide array of seafood dishes. However, each country puts their own, unique spin on seafood, resulting in extraordinarily delicious dishes.

    Ikan Bakar vs Grilled Fish/Braised Fish

    Malaysia’s ikan bakar is a staple in the Malaysian diet, and like Malaysia, Jeju has a plentiful supply of fish in its dishes. Jeju also has a variety of grilled fish that is consumed in our daily diet, not unlike Malaysia. However, while Malaysia’s ikan bakar, although grilled, is usually served with a variety of spices and sauces, Jeju’s grilled fish is usually only seasoned with salt. Grilled fish is called “gui” in Korean, but if flavorful spices is what you’re looking for in a fish dish, “jorim” is what you’re looking for. Fish jorim is marinated and braised in a flavorful sauce, and is served hot with rice.

    Cheonjiyeon Falls is located at Namseongjung-ro, Cheonji-dong, Seogwipo and designated as Natural Monument No. 27. Cheonjiyeon is translated as “sky connected with land”, and it has the appearance of a water falling directly from the heavens. The falls are surrounded by forests and wooded areas, which include Natural Monument No. 163 (Dampalsu Trees) and Natural Monument No. 379 (a collection of rare plants and trees). The falls are open, all year round, from sunrise until 10 p.m., with the last admission being at 9:10 p.m. Free parking is available for all visitors.     Saeyeongyo Bridge is located at Namsungjoong-ro 40, Seogwipo and connects Seogwipo Port and Birds Island, a temperate forest conservation zone. The bridge is a long pedestrian overpass, inspired by the “Tewu” design, Jeju’s traditional log boat. For further information, dial 064-760-3471.

The street is closed off to cars every weekend (Saturday & Sunday), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During those hours, the street is transformed into an outdoor art market and is lined up with arts & craft vendors featuring their handmade products.

    Boromwat (보롬왓)

    Boromwat is a cafe, located at Bunyoung-ro 2350-104, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, right next to a buckwheat farm. The fields are full of hydrangea flowers in the summer and also attached to lavender fields. It is a popular location for wedding and engagement photo sessions. Boromwat uses their own lavender flowers to make their popular, lavender ice cream. The cafe also serves fresh juices and snacks, using other fresh ingredients that have been harvested directly from their farm.     Hamdeok Seowoobong (함덕서우봉)

    Hamdeok Seowoobong beach is a beautiful, white sand beach with clear, emerald waters. It is nestled within a group of hills, including Seowoobong hill, so you can enjoy both the beach and the mountains at Hamdeok Seowoobong. The beach is especially popular with families, because the waters are still and shallow. Additionally, there is a walking trail to hike up Seowoobong, which takes only about 15 minutes. At the top of Seowoobong, you will experience a spectacular view of the beach below. The trail is situated in the middle of Olleh Course 19, located at Hamdeok-ri 1008, Jocheon-eup, Jeju City.     Seogwipo’s daily Olle Market is the largest traditional market in Seogwipo and features agricultural products, seafood, and household items. Originally, formed in the early 1960s and expanded in 2001, the Olle Market now runs over 620 meters long and features agricultural products, seafood, and household items. The market hosts approximately 200 shops, 140 street vendors, and also offers free delivery service. It even has an outdoor stage for various cultural experiences. Located at 22 Jungjeong-ro, 73 Bungil, Seogwipo, the Olle Market is open year round, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Credit cards are accepted and pets are allowed. Restrooms are located on the premises.     Jeju Tourism Organization Duty Free Shop

    The Jeju Tourism Organization Duty Free Shop offers a diverse selection of duty free, cosmetics, jewelry, electronics, accessories, and premium liquors. It features 250 shops with quality brands such as Dior, Lancome, Prada, Hermes, Armani, and Burberry. Opened in 2009 as the first inner-city, duty free shop in all of Korea, the Jeju Tourism Organization Duty Free Shop welcomes all tourists with numerous amenities such as free parking, baby stroller rental, handicap restrooms, a lounge, and a customer center that offers English, Japanese, and Chinese assistance. Credit cards are accepted. Pets are not allowed.
