One of the main reasons to visit Udo Island is to discover more about this “island within an island”. For one, it is famous for its white sand beach and emerald sea. Simultaneously it also has a magnificent black sand beach. And then there’s its famed locally grown peanuts, which have been added to high-quality ice cream in a wide variety of reasonably-priced, unique combinations by cafés and restaurants around this diminutive island. There’s something for everyone!

This white building is as close to a café in Santorini as you can come. Inside, the interior is photogenic and sure to please your social media followers. The peanut flavor of the ice cream treats served here has the texture and feel of sherbet. The saltiness of the peanuts is harmonious with the sweetness of the ice cream. Out front, the sandy beach is sleepy and picturesque.

At the entrance to Udo’s own Biyangdo Islet is where you can find this ice cream treat. It’s an unusual spot offering up peanuts fermented with naturally sweet radish powder. As a result, this isn’t a dessert with the usual amount of sweetness you’d expect from a sherbet or ice cream. Health-wise, the fermented peanuts are said to help with digestion, so it’s not only delicious, but also promotes good health. Jandigami also sells healthy bread made from fermented peanuts and even garlic ice cream.

This is a bakery café that mainly sells walnut-shaped peanut bread. Their ice cream boasts of Udo peanuts and caramel syrup for a crunchy, sweet combo. They have white, dolphin-shaped cookies on offer as well. On their outdoor terrace, you can see Seongsan Sunrise Peak and enjoy the cool sea breeze.

As for the location of Dennis Cafe, it features a beautiful view from its second floor. There is an expansive vista of Geommeolle Beach with which to sit down and enjoy your dessert.

A small building in the shape of an Udo turbanshell is an unusual sight indeed. From it, homemade ice cream is sold every day — a recipe unique to Udo known as Udo gelato ice cream. As it is gelato, you can especially enjoy the texture and taste of the Udo peanuts and the slight saltiness of pretzels all combined with the soft sweetness of the ice cream.
