As seen on TV! A local trip through every nook and cranny of Seogwipo’s markets: There’s something special about the Daejeong and Moseulpo markets
Why do people seek out local markets when they find themselves in unfamiliar destinations? It’s because these places allow us to catch an up-close glimpse of how the locals live. There’s a special charm in browsing through the quaint stalls and settling down to get a taste of some local specialties. Near Moseulpo Port on the southern tip of Jeju Island are two traditional markets: Daejeong 5-day Market, which opens only on set days, and Moseulpo Jungang Market, which operates daily. Recently featured on the KBS2 variety show Boss in the Mirror, these markets let visitors get a feel for the distinct character of Jeju Island as they bask in the lively calls of the vendors, the rich aromas of delicious food, and the warm hospitality of Jeju locals. Here, we will now introduce some of the unique features of these markets filled with local atmosphere and eclectic shops.
Top 10 Jeju Sites for November (The deeper the season, the richer the impression. Jeju in November is delightful)
Jeju in November lets you feel the depth of the season with a cool breeze kissing the tip of your nose during an early morning walk along the beach. Looking around, there are dazzling fields of orange-hued mandarins, and schools of yellowtail flutter in the darkened sea. Bountiful food from land and sea beckons as if it has been waiting for this season. November is a time of perfect temperature and humidity, hearty food and pleasant travels, all enjoyed under brilliantly blue skies on the entire island.
Top 10 Sites in Jeju for December (We’ve worked hard this year. Let’s go to Jeju to ‘take a good rest’ this December!)
Let’s look back on the past year. Moments of achievement, a mix of agony and delight, pass through our mind like a panorama. We gave it our all, so now we need to recharge. Let’s take our moment and end the year in Jeju, an island of both luxury and innocence. Like a soothing song after a rough day, empty your mind of troubles, and fill it up again with the whisper of the island, “Poksaksogasuda” (“Thank you for your hard work” in the Jeju language).
