Pensions are small yet luxurious accommodations that combine the domestic atmosphere of lodgings with the convenience of hotels. Lodgings are a type of accommodation where people can cook for themselves and stay in regular households or households in farming and fishing villages. It is said that “pensions” get their name because Jeju retirees began to open lodgings. Nowadays, they have become more widespread and are no longer restricted to people who have retired, and even families with children or couples will come to Jeju to open pensions and cafes. Those traveling by foot along walking trails like Jeju Olle may discover a whole new world during their travels by staying at Jeju’s native lodgings, trying out Jeju cuisine, and experiencing life in Jeju.
