Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest is one of Jeju City’s most popular attractions, full of tall cedar trees, fresh air, and the rejuvenating power of nature. The forest possesses a dreamy ambiance when covered in fog, making it a great choice even on rainy days. The forest trails are gentle enough to be accessible for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, without any steep slopes. Located in Bonggae-dong, part of Jeju’s mid-mountain area, it is about a 20-minute drive from the city and spans approximately 300 hectares, including 100 ha of natural forest and 200 ha of artificial forest. Though cedars are the most common trees here, it is also home to pine and mulberry trees, as well as animals such as crows and deer.

The name “Jeolmul” comes from some nearby springs of water which is believed to have medicinal properties, particularly in the treatment of neuralgia and gastrointestinal issues. They have historically served as an important source of drinking water for locals, as they do not dry up even during droughts. The water continues to undergo regular quality. Nearby Jeolmul Oreum is a famous local landmark, consisting of two peaks called Keundaena Oreum and Jogeundaena Oreum, and featuring a unique round crater on the side. The oreum rises up to an elevation of 697 meters, taking about one hour to hike to the top and back.
