Jeju 4·3 Peace Park
Throughout history, humanity has worshipped and praised only heroes. It was only starting from the 20th century that people began commemorating the history of regular citizens. Jeju 4.3 Peace Park was established in order to remember those who were sacrificed in the Jeju 4.3 Incident. It is a park commemorating peace and human rights that seeks to open up a future where reconciliation and harmony are possible. The establishment of the Jeju 4.3 Peace Park was agreed as an indemnification for victims of the Jeju 4.3 Incident. The park was opened on March 28, 2008 following the enactment of the Special Act of 4.3 (2000), purchase of the construction site, construction plan research, contests, construction, and building and installation of the exhibitions.
