Al Oreum Volcanic Cone (Seongsan-eup)

Al Oreum Volcanic Cone sits behind Siheung Elementary School in Siheung-ri, Seongsan-eup. The farm road south of the elementary school will lead you to the summit of the mountain and goes through the crater all the way to Jongdal-ri, Gujwa-eup on the opposite site. The southeastern slope is covered in a forest of black pine trees on the bottom half. On the steep slope grows a colony of Zanthoxylum coreanum NAKAI, designated as a protected species (Plant – 82) by the Ministry of Environment. On the lower part of the southwestern cliff lives a colony of Lycoris aurea (Plant – 22). On the inner parts of the crater grows Eulalia grass, and colonies of Indian broomrape cover the lower part. The northwestern slope forms flat grassland, which is now used for agriculture.
