This volcanic cone forms a horseshoe-shaped crater that opens to the northwest, and is called Bukdolajin Oreum Volcanic Cone because the rock wall at the edge of its summit looks like a large drum (Buk) is hanging from it, as well as to distinguish it from Goe Oreum Volcanic Cone.

It is covered in a lush natural forest of mainly pine trees, oak, and scrubs. The rock cliff is a vertical rock wall, with steep slopes of Sasa borealis and thorny bushes formed in the surrounding area.

It is called Bukdolajin Oreum Volcanic Cone because the rock wall at the edge of its summit looks like a large drum (Buk) is hanging from it. According to the 1:5000 map issued by the National Geographic Information Institute, the western volcanic cone (Goe Oreum Volcanic Cone) is written as ‘Dongmul Oreum Volcanic Cone’ while the western volcanic cone (Bukdolajin Oreum Volcanic Cone) is written as ‘Goe Oreum Volcanic Cone.’
