On Baekjung Day, 15th day of the 7th lunar month, people flock to Donnaeko, seeking out the refreshing waters of Wonang Falls, as local legend tells that bathing here on this day can cure a hundred minor ailments. The stream is fed by clear, icy water from Hallasan Mountain, and never dries up even during droughts; this, combined by the surrounding evergreen trees that retain their lush greenery all year round, imbues the valley with a mysterious and serene atmosphere.
The water is mostly shallow, but some areas do reach up to 2 meters in depth, allowing for freediving. Swimming in the cold, sapphire-colored water will chill you to the bone, with wash basins to rinse your hands and feet afterward and showers available near the road. Lifeguards are stationed during the busiest season for swimming, which typically runs from July to August, though the exact period varies from year to year.

A wooden walkway connects the valley and Wonang Falls, allowing visitors to safely move between the two. Please note that the water near the falls is deeper than in the valley, making it more suitable for adults or high school students.

The area around Donnaeko is also designated as Natural Monument No. 432 due to being a natural habitat for an endangered species of flower, Smoothlip Cymbidium, and wild strawberries are known to grow here in winter. The scenic trail leading to Wonang Falls is worth a visit for nature-lovers even outside of swimming season, with the camellia trees lining the path making it a pleasant place for a walk even in winter.
