Gimnyeong Maze Park is Korea’s first maze park, created with evergreen Leylandii trees that stay lush in all four seasons. The distinctive scent of the Leylandii and the volcanic stones scattered on the ground will leave visitors with a refreshing sensation once they finally find their way out of the confusing maze. It is one of Jeju’s most beloved attractions, appealing to everyone regardless of age, gender, and relationship status, though it is particularly popular with families. The park was created 30 years ago based off an idea from Professor Dustin, an American who loved Jeju, and the annual profits are donated to Jeju National University and the local community.

The 3-meter-tall trees form the walls of a dense and captivating maze where reaching the endpoint is both challenging and thrilling. The park is also home to around 50 cats who roam freely, leading it to be considered Korea’s first cat park. One of the goals of the park has always been to preserve the natural surroundings as much as possible; thus, the cats have been left to do as they please, adding to the unique charm of the attraction.

The maze itself is not the only fun thing to do at Gimnyeong Maze Park. There’s also a pedal-bike track for both children and adults, located near the park’s “Cat Castle.” Check the signboard to choose a bike that suits your height and have fun at the track behind the area. Gimnyeong Maze Park provides joyful moments for children and their families, and lets adults recapture the mystery and wonder of childhood.
