Agriculture is a key part of life in Jeju.
The island is well-known not just for its tangerines, but also for its beekeeping.
In Korea, beekeeping houses offer programs where visitors can learn about the crucial role bees play in our ecosystem.
These programs offer a great opportunity to understand bees beyond the common fear of being stung.
Climate change has led to a decline in the number of bees in Jeju.
Greenbees, located in Aewol-eup, Jeju City, was established to help protect the bees and raise awareness about the environmental needs of bees and their value.
As Albert Einstein once said, “If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live.” Bees are crucial to our survival,
yet many people still aren’t aware of their importance.
Greenbees’ mission is to help create a world where bees can live in peace, and thus a world where people can live.
In addition to beekeeping education, Greenbees has gradually expanded its business area to include lectures, experience programs, honey production, and retail.
Greenbees is the first in Korea to offer an indoor beekeeping experience in Korea. To this end, it has a 200㎡ wide indoor beekeeping area.
There are two transparent beehives installed on the walls, allowing visitors to examine their living space in detail. The building also contains rooms for theoretical education, exhibition, and processing.
This helps visitors see the big picture.

A feature of Greenbees is a Saturday afternoon experience class at 14:00 and 16:00 every week until this September.
The program must be booked in advance.
The program is open to both adults and children and includes environmental education, glow-in-the-dark bee making, bee sculpture making, and Jeju tangerine flower honey making.
The program can accommodate up to 20 participants.
Children may be a little scared at first, but they warm up quickly once the experience begins.
It would be worth your time to participate in the program because it’s very educational and beneficial.
The Jeju tangerine flower honey is not only natural, but also smells and tastes good.
Greenbees also has educational materials to help you learn more about bees.
There are also different photo sections for you to fill your travel album with.
Through its website, Greenbees sells Jeju tangerine flower honey in jars or sticks, natural honey, and weight loss drinks made by fermenting Jeju green tea at low temperatures for 528 hours.
Greenbees says that its business began with the Jeju tangerine flower honey, which can only be found in Jeju. The sense of pride in the island’s uniqueness is evident.
The honey sticks are filled with seasonally harvested honey to maximize flavor, nutrition, and fragrance to the max.
You can enjoy them as they are, but they also make great gifts.
Combined with the purpose and history behind Greenbees, Greenbees offers something beyond great taste.
