 Jeju has an amazing collection of beautiful cafés that have become tourist attractions in their own right.

Most of these cafés are organized around a theme, creating unique settings that one can only be found there.

One such place, Miju Coffee and Cake, is a café near the three mythical holes of Jeju City called Samseonghyeol. 

It has attracted a large following thanks to its pretty yellow gate and golden Lady Banks’ roses. When the flowers were in full bloom last spring, from March to May, Miju Coffee and Cake attracted a large crowd who came to see them. 

Spring is often associated with cherry blossoms, but Miju Coffee and Cake is one of the few places where one can actually see the Banks’ roses in their golden glory, so it tends to draw a large crowd of visitors. 

Because the Lady Banks’ roses have no thorns, children can get up close and take pictures without fear.

The café is located in a renovated 70-year-old house.

While many cafés in Jeju are housed in renovated historic buildings, Miju Coffee and Cake may have the distinction of having the richest floral scent among its peers. 

Upon entering, one will find a note from the owner asking for one’s understanding: The café is run by the owner alone, so it takes time to prepare each order. 

However, one often does not notice the time spent waiting for the menu to be prepared, as there are plenty of opportunities to take pictures in the interior. 

The café is furnished with many props that make for ideal backdrops for photography, so one can get one’s picture of the day no matter where one points one’s camera. 

Visitors with small children and pets should note, however, that many of the props on display are mirrors and glass art.

The menu includes cafe Americano (with a choice of three beans), cafe latte, cappuccino, lemon tea, and desserts. 

Miju Coffee and Cake’s signature items are the yogurt cake and ricotta cheesecake. Another popular menu item, the Flower and Sweet Bean Paste Cake, requires reservations. 

This makes it a great choice for a special occasion. Note that desserts are served at random, and each guest must order a drink.

There is also an outdoor patio with parasols and bench, so one can enjoy one’s cup of coffee outside when the weather is cool and breezy. 

Outdoor seating is open to all, and please note that visitors accompanied by their pets will be directed to outdoor seating.
