Sanyang Keuneonggot, where fireflies dance. 

The name “Sanyang Keuneonggot” refers to a forest located in a canyon rather than on flat land. The forest is divided into two main areas: the Dalguji Trail, which offers photo spots and learning programs, and the Forest Trail.

At Sanyang Keuneonggot, visitors can see oxen and horse-drawn carts as in the old days. This site is a modern re-creation of a fairytale forest village. 

Instead of fairies, this enchanting forest is home to fireflies. The fireflies at Sanyang Keuneonggot are a special variety known in Korea as “Unmunsan fireflies” (Hotaria unmunsana). These fireflies make a brief appearance only in June before vanishing for the rest of the year. 

Please note that visits are by reservation only. Be sure to book your visit through Naver Booking. Phone reservations are not accepted. 

Reservations sell out quickly, so we recommend booking in advance.

* Please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the start of the tour to ensure your parking space and entry.

* This year (2024), the fireflies may come out early and the event may end before June 30th.

* Same-day cancellations are not accepted. (No same day refunds as this is a once-in-a-year event! 100% refund up to the day before the event)

* Depending on the weather conditions of the day, you may see fewer fireflies.

* Tour times may vary slightly depending on site conditions.

* Tours will be canceled in the case of heavy rain.(Rain cancelations will be announced by text between 17:00 and 19:00 on the day of the visit / based on weather conditions in Sanyang Keuneonggot area (Sanyang-ri, Cheongsu-ri))

* For safety reasons, strollers and wheelchairs, carriages, umbrellas, and pets are not allowed.
