Summer is here.
In the summer, we tend to choose cool indoor attractions and eat cool food.
Many people love snorkeling, surfing, and other summer activities at the beaches around Jeju. Taeutgae is one of those great spots.
Taeutgae used to be a hidden gem in Namwon-eup, known only to locals and dedicated hikers.
But it gained famed after being featured on the show “Our Blues”.
Taeutgae, in Wimi-ri, Namwon-eup, is near the Namwon Keuneong Promenade and Jeju Olle Route 5.
The name “Taeutgae” means “a place where tewoo are tied”, tewoo being the traditional boats used by the islanders.
The water here, fed by both seawater and sea springs is crystal clear, making it perfect for snorkeling. The natural pool is shallow enough for children to play in, but it is recommended to wear aqua shoes for safety.
Please be aware that there are only restrooms and parking available, with no showers. It is especially important to check the water depth to prevent diving accidents.
