Seogwipo-si: A Year-Round Attraction

Seogwipo-si, Korea’s warmest city, combines the urban with aspects of a farming village and a fishing village. Towards the ocean is a view of Seogwipo Port, Munseom Island, Beomseom Island, and Seopseom Island, while Hallasan Mountain stands firm and in all its grandeur behind the quiet city.

The city has the warmest climate in all of Korea, which brings in tourists all year round.

As the city’s population is smaller than that of Jeju-si and its main industries are agriculture and fishing, Seogwipo-si possesses the easy freedom characteristic of small cities.

Seogwipo-si has many orchards where people may admire the view of the snow-covered Hallasan Mountain while picking ripe citrus fruits in the midwinter, making the city a hit with tourists in the cold season as well. It is also possible to examine fossils at the coastal cliffs of Seogwipo Port, which boast the oldest strata in Jejudo Island.

The region is home to more cliffs than any other region in Jeju, and waterfalls can be seen here and there as a result.
