Jocheon: Sea, Forest and Volcanic Cones
Jocheon Village is an ancient port village with a history that connects Jejudo Island with mainland Korea.
Fortress wall sites and Yeonbukjeon Pavilion remain at the port to this day, and at the center of the village is a memorial stone that commemorates villagers' achievements.
Along with the neighboring village’s Hwabuk Port, Jocheon Port was used to deliver horses as tributes. People setting sail would wait for fair winds here, which played an important role as a strategic foothold against invading foreign forces. As such, a fortress was built here with the ocean on three sides, a unique setup.
