Hangyeong: A Village Famous for its Geopark Trekking Course
This village is located at the westernmost edge of Jeju.
It contains the Gosan-ri Historic Site, which revealed the secrets of Jeju’s Neolithic Era, and the tragic legend of Suwolbong Peak and its coastal cliffs. It was also recently registered as a Global Geopark site and has become famous for its trekking courses.
It is located approximately 42km to the west from the center of Jeju-si.
Those who wish to take in the atmosphere of old Jeju alongside the scenery of the Jagunae Port, Suwolbong Peak, and Dang Oreum Volcanic Cone, which embrace the coastal plain, would do well to walk around Gosan Village.
Those seeking a short trek are advised to head to Jeoji Oreum inside the Artists’ Village in Jeoji in the middle mountainous area of Hangyeong-eup. The entire course takes just an hour.
